Sloper Ice & Mixed

An open database for ice and mixed climbing in the Canadian Rockies.

What is it?

Sloper Ice & Mixed is a step towards our vision for the future of digital climbing resources —it’s a place for all of us to contribute to the history of Canadian winter climbing.

Why is it different than (X)?

The core design principle of this platform is that everyone should feel empowered to contribute to the upkeep of route descriptions, condition reports, and the epic history of winter ascents that will inspire the next generation of climbers.

One place for all the beta

Sloper: Ice & Mixed uses a temporal database to preserve every version of a route description. That means you’ll never overwrite someone else’s contribution, and you can explore how a route has evolved over time. You’re also free to refine descriptions as you go, building on the history rather than replacing it.

Explore, Send, Contribute

Sloper: Ice & Mixed gives you everything you need to plan your next climb. Explore routes through an interactive map with a detailed 3D view of the terrain. Filter by difficulty & style, or search by name to go straight to a classic. Check recent conditions, browse community insights, and scroll through real photos posted by other climbers. When you’re ready, add your own knowledge: refine descriptions, share updates, and link out to helpful external resources. It’s a guidebook that gets better every time someone ties in.
